Peace in the middle east (coast)

I'm glad to report that last Friday's planned night out on the town with the wife was a great success. OK, so maybe "night out on the town" is stretching it, but we were able to get out of the house, take a break from the kids, and enjoy dinner at The Outback.

We had a great time - we left everything else that is going on in our lives at home and just had a quiet night enjoying each other's comapny. And while I wouldn't quite call it a date night, it did remind me a little of how carefree things used to be before we had to worry about things like a mortgage and two kids who never seem to sleep at the same time.

Things went back to normal by Saturday morning, but at least we were able to escape our daily existence for a few hours. ..

That's great to hear! Sometimes during the "hard" times you need to remember the carefree times and have one or two if even only for a night. I'm actually writing a post about a similar issue. Keep an eye on my blog.

I'm glad you got to relive those times even if only for a couple of hours. I remember you two in those days. Man things were much simpler then. Now it is time for you to get your ass down here and just be a man for a few days. Leave the family life stresses at home and lets take some time to party like in the simpler days of our youth. I think we need to send you home with a shiny new tattoo also.

Isn't wonderful to escape for a little bit, even if it is just for a few hours. All married people need to take time to remember that they are not just employees, moms, and dads. They need to remember that they are husband and wife and enjoy each other every once in awhile.

I have decided to make escaping from reality a weekly event. In fact, I'm escaping from work right now to write this!

Next week I'm going to escape reality for four days of R&R in beautiful Georgia w/ Robb. We'll see about the tattoo...

Ok, definitely never getting married....or having children.... I have enough trouble escaping myself not to mention all those things you just added to the list...

heather- You say that now, but there's nothing in the world like coming home and having your child's face light up and run towards you smiling and yelling "Daddy home, daddy home!"

Of course in your case it would probably be Mommy.

Not everything about marriage is bad, and most of the time it's actually pretty good!!
