Stupidity knows no bounds. Dad is feeling your pain. He is so ready to leave govt. work and retire it isn't even funny. Sure, stupid people are everywhere, but government seems even worse.

I'm not sure if the government creates or attracts dumb people, but it certainly keeps them well protected so they can grow and multiply...kind of like mold!!

The government does protect the stupid people! They have it set up so they can't fire them. Then the smart people leave, because they can't work with complete idiots. Then the idiots tell their friends that a position just opened up, and there you go more and more stupid people.
Sorry, I was a military wife for awhile. I hated dealing with all the stupid people that they had on base.
Lilith - you hit the nail on the head! That is about the most perfect explanation of the situation I've ever heard. But don't worry - I'm doing my best to fight the stupidity from the inside...
They do become contactors, over paid contactors! At that base I was at, one of the largest AF bases, they over paid contractors to remodel all of base housing. (1000's of units) Then they decided to turn it into a civilian base. There will still be a few military there but most of it will be civilian. Now they have this contract that they have to finish paying out on and no one to live there. What a great job guys!
